I just starting to test and play with Twitter, You can find me at jonpease I’m not sure what Twitter is. It is a micro blog and a broadcast IM tool. I think it may have some use in team communication.

I want to continue to test the reliability of the service along with trying out different desktop Twitter applications and the mobile phone interface on several phones but this may be a great tool. I will make sure to give a full review in the coming months.

I would love to hear about other types of communication tools you are finding in this web 2.0 revolution.

Ok, Yesterday I wrote about my issues with the insurance agency management systems that are available today. I know that as my company grows we will probably have to concede and move to windows, hire IT people and deal with the problems that all agencies have with technology. But for today, I have decided to go my own way. I signed up for salesforce.com and, though I like their platform, it really is not looking like it is for us. So I have decided to spend some time and run my business with great tools that I know and love. I will be using a relational database (filemaker backbone) and the web to manage my business. The only piece I’m still struggling with is the financial side of the business. I am going to use a boxed tool to do that for now. I don’t want to focus on technology. I want to focus on my clients and this overall approach is the only way for us to go, today. If anyone knows of a better solution please let me know.Jon

As many of you know, I am coming off a non-compete in a few days and I ‘m very excited about it. Starting a new insurance agency is exciting. However have still not been able to decide on a agency management system. I think I have taken a demo from all of the major vendors and most of the minor players in the business. Let me tell you! They all have issues. First of all I have yet to find one that doesn’t require ie as the browser of choice. Please… I do not like windows and really have a problem with ie. The cost of these relics is huge and all of them are clunky with a clumsy interface. If I could grab one of these web 2.0 kids and get him to focus for a month we could launch the greatest insurance agency management systems of all time. Well since I’m the only new media d bag, I know. And I don’t know how to code.  I guess I will succumb to  to the rest of the herd and buy some awful machine like a dell ( sorry to my mac’s) a nice piece of virus ridden microsoft, have it work less than 1/2 the time and pretend I’m giving my clients what they need. or will I? Stay tuned.
